"Oh Kanata!" video a twist on Canadian national anthem

An interesting video came across our desk today.It's called "Oh Kanata! Our Home on Native Land."

We weren't sure who produced it so we put it out on our Facebook page and within a few hours, we heard from one of the creators.

Lisa Hibberdwas studying Indigenous studies at Trent University when she and three classmates made the video last year.

She says,"None of us are native but were trying to find a way of being an ally.. and so we wrote and sang a song that could try to capture what we were thinking about the relationship between Canada and the Indigenous peoples of the land that this country was founded upon."

"Each person we approached and took a picture of, we started a dialogue of the importance of knowing whose land this really is."
