J. Crew to open 1st Canadian store in Toronto

Popular U.S. clothing retailer J. Crew plans to open its first Canadian store next year, the company saidThursday.

In its newsletter, The Thread, J. Crew said it wouldopen a store in Toronto in 2011."Calling all Canucks. We're opening our first-ever J.Crew store in Toronto in 2011. Details are still being ironed out, but we'll be sure to keep you posted,"the company wrote to its customers.

News of a Canadian foray first came to light in September 2009, though at the time the company would not confirm reports it was considering a northern expansion. Canadianscan currently order items from J. Crew online.

J. Crew's second quarter revenues in 2010 rose 14 per cent to $407.5 million U.S., the company reported in August.
