Canada names Guy Saint-Jacques ambassador to China

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird is announcing today that Guy Saint-Jacques will become Canadas next ambassador to China.

Saint-Jacques replaces former ambassador David Mulroney, who left the post in Beijing this summer and has since joined theCanada Centre for Global Security Studies at the University of Toronto's Munk School.

Saint-Jacques was appointed Canada's chief negotiator and ambassador for climate change in 2010, and has twice before served in Canada's embassy in Beijing.

Hejoined the Department of Foreign Affairs in 1977, and has served in New York City, Mexico City, Kinshasa and Hong Kong., Hehas held senior posts at Canada's embassy in Washington and served as deputy high commissioner in London.
