The Senate resumes debate on motions to suspend Senators Patrick Brazeau, Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin.

CBC News has learned that the Conservative leader in the Senate, Claude Carignan, is considering suggestions from his caucus to present more lenient penalty to the three senators, one that would see them serve shorter suspensions without pay but keep their benefits.

Carignan also served notice on Friday he would introduce motion of closure on the debate Monday.
