Would you go to Mars?

NASA astronaut Scott Kelly returned from the International Space Station this week. The journey ended a 340-day mission that set a U.S. record and led Kelly to remark that at a Mars trip is possible. Should we send humans to the Red Planet, despite the risks and costs?

"Going to Mars, if it takes 2 years, yeah, that's doable," the astronaut said. "There's still things we have to learn, but we can learn them."

NASA wants toknow how the body and mind adjust to long periods in space beforesending astronauts to Mars; expeditions are planned for the 2030s.
