With British Columbia's windstorm smashing cars, toppling treesand putting hundreds of thousands of people out of power, manyhave been keen to share their experiences online.

Some shared the sheer intensity of the storm as it travelled through their neighbourhood, like in this time-lapse footage below.

Then there was dealing with the aftermath.

Many found ways to spend the night without power, whether it was playing games

a candle-lit dinner with a stuffed creature,

or cooking pizza bagels over a warm fire.

BCHydro says 500,000 customers were out of power during the night, leading one man to get creative about his morning coffee.

One woman simply felt grateful to have had good friends and shelter from the storm.

As the electricity returned for some, they celebrated.

There's still many people left stuck without power.

But people are already figuring out how to deal.
