Twitter launches Moments to organize tweets by trending topic

Twitter announced a new feature Tuesdaycalled Moments,which allows users to access curated content about an event or topic with the tap of an icon.

Whereas Twitter users currently experience the program as a series of tweets in sequential order, Moments will bundle the top content from a trending topic from the Super Bowl to the #superbloodmoon and deliverthe full picture without requiring constant monitoring, according to Wired.

Momentsare presented in ascrollable, sharabledisplaywhich isupdated as more tweets become availableand disappears after the storyends,reports TechCrunch.

Moments will includevideos, commentary, interactionsand GIFs,curated by Twitter, as well as by corporate partners,including Bleacher Report, Buzzfeed, Entertainment Weekly, Fox News, Getty Images, Mashable, MLB, NASA, New York Times, Vogue and the Washington Post, according to the company's blog.

It's Twitter's first major change since launchingin 2006, and it's seen as abig move toward kickstartingthe social network'sgrowth with a wider audience.

The launch follows Monday's announcement thatco-founder Jack Dorsey has returned to head the company as CEO.

As of Tuesday, Moments is only available in the United States, on Android, iPhoneand desktop devices, but it can be accessed outside of the U.S. if you find a link to a Moment in a tweet or DM, according to the company's blog.

Twitter says it plans to expand the feature beyond the United States soon.
