WestJet adds 4 new wide-body aircraft to fleet

WestJet took delivery of four new wide-body aircraft today, which will allow the airline to begin flying to Europe.

Boeing 767-300s allows airline to fly to European destinations

WestJet is still having mechanical issues with its fleet of four Boeing 767s.

WestJet took delivery of four new wide-body aircraft today, which will allow the airline to begin flying to Europe.

The Calgary-based airline bought the Boeing 767-300 extended range aircraft so it can addmore long-haul destinations.

"It's a very exciting day here at WestJet, obviously, the arrival of our very first wide-bodied aircraft." said Greg Saretsky, WestJet's president and CEO. " It will give us the opportunity to open up all kinds new geographies and there's lots of smiles around the building today."

The planeswill fly from Alberta to Hawaii and between Toronto and Jamaica beginning later this year. Another onewill begin flying to London, England's Gatwick airport in May, 2016.

The planes have 262 seats and can fly for about 11 hours.
