2 NATO soldiers die in Afghan explosion

NATO said an explosion Wednesday in southern Afghanistan killed two of its troops and wounded six others.

The military alliance did not reveal the troops' nationalities or the exact location of the blast.

Canada has more than 2,000 troops in the Kandahar area who are working with NATO's 58,000-strong force to fight Taliban insurgents.

U.S. President Barack Obama has said he will deploy 21,000 additional U.S. forces to confront the Taliban more forcefully, particularly in the south where the insurgency is strongest.
