Canadian family mulls Lebanon departure over Syria fears

Maher Habbas has known war since he was six years old, when the civil war began in Lebanon. Years later, he left for Canada and started a family in Vancouver.

He recently moved his family back to Lebanon but remained in Vancouver, while supporting his family.His hope was to introduce his daughters to their Lebanese roots in a time of peace.

Those plans changed and now hes flown to Beirut because his family is scared of the threat of foreign military action in neighbouring Syria.

Habbas talks to the CBCs Nahlah Ayed about his struggle with that decision ashis daughter Sarah, 12,describes her effort to convince her dad to take the family home to Canada.
