CBC Middle East correspondent Sasa Petricic reports on Syria's brutal civil war from the embattled city of Aleppo

CBC's Sasa Petricic is reporting from the front lines of Syria's civil war.

In the past 10 months, a lot of blood has been spilled on thestreets of Aleppo, which used to be a stronghold for the regime. Now President Bashar al-Assad's army isfighting desperately to hold on, but block by block the rebels have taken over roughly half of Syria's largest city.

A commander of the Free Syrian Army shows Petricic a government building which he says is used by snipers to fire at rebels and civilians.

"But [the rebels] are clearly outgunned in many cases, battling tanks and fighter jets with little more than pipe bombs. Reusing ammunition by refilling bullet shells. Even building slingshots to lob explosives at the army," Petricic says in this video report.
