Chrtien urges closer China and Canada ties

Former prime minister Jean Chrtiencemented trade relations with China in the 1990s, bonds he continues to strengthen aspresident of the InterAction Council a group of former heads of state.

Chrtien, who visitsthe countryregularly, still enjoys privileged access to China'sleaders. He said he is still trying to bring Ottawa and Beijing closer together.
