French, Israeli leaders turn attention to Iran nuclear program

Israel's premier says Iran will be the main focus in talks with the French president during his Jerusalem visit.

Benjamin Netanyahu spoke at a government meeting Sunday hours before Francois Hollande arrives for a three-day trip.

Netanyahu has repeatedly expressed dismay over a possible deal between Iran and six world powers, including France, that could lift some sanctions while leaving the Islamic Republic with uranium-enrichment capabilities.

Netanyahu said Iran talks will "top the agenda" in discussions with Hollande that will also cover negotiations with the Palestinians. Hollande is to meet Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas later in the week.

Israel sees a nuclear armed Iran as a threat to its existence, citing Iranian references to its destruction and support of militant groups. Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful uses.
