Marking Titanic's 100th anniversary in Canada, around the world

Events are being held around the world to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the Titanic's sinking. Titanic enthusiasts can enjoy the many exhibits, tributes, memorials and interactive events that are taking place to pay tribute to infamous ship.

Cable Ships: Connecting Halifax to Titanic and the World -April 12, 2012

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Halifax: As part of the museum's commemoration of the 100^th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic, aspecial exhibitis opening about the cable ships and their crew and how they used trans-Atlanic undersea cables to communicate.

The Gathering (Titanic Eve - Night of the Bells)- April 14, 2012

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Halifax: From 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. AT, there will be acandle-lit procession by the water at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The procession will make its way from the museum to the Grand Parade, passing some of the city's Titanic-related landmarks along the way.

Titanic Eve - Night of the Bells- April 14, 2012

Grand Parade, Halifax: Presentations and live performances about the Titanic and her sinking will take place at Halifaxs Grand Parade from 9:30 p.m. to 12:20 a.m. AT. At 12:20 a.m., when the Titanic began to sink, a moment of silence will be held and flares will be set off to symbolize the ship's call for help.

Titanic Spiritual Ceremony- April 15, 2012

Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Chisholm Avenue entrance, Halifax: Aninterfaith memorial servicewill take place from3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. AT at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery in remembrance of the lives lost in the Titanic tragedy and of the 121 Titanic victims buried at the cemetery. The service will include a wreath-laying and musical performances.

Titanic Belfast (Ireland)

Belfast, Northern Ireland, opened March 31:This buildinghas been constructed on the old shipyards where the Titanic was built. Visitors can enjoy nine exhibits with interactive media including CGI, film, audio, artifacts and full-scale replicas of the Titanic. Open Mondayto Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.to 5 p.m.

Titanic Branson (Branson, Missouri, U.S.A.)

The museum is holding aspecial musical tributeon April 14 to mark the night the Titanic sank 100 years ago. Visitors can also enjoy the museums exact replica of the Titanics grand staircase, and sit in an actual size life boat and hear passenger stories.

Titanic Pigeon Forge (Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, U.S.A.)

Like the sister museum in Branson, MO,visitors to this exhibitcan enjoy exact replicas of parts of the ship, touch an iceberg, and learn how to send an S.O.S. distress call. Visitors will be given boarding passes with the names of people on the Titanic's maiden voyage, and find out the fate of the passenger as they go through the exhibits.

Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit (U.S.)

This exhibit will travel toLas Vegas, Orlando, San Diego, Kansas City, Singapore, Houston, Detroit and Atlanta. It offers an emotional and educational for people of all ages as visitors are able to view real artifacts recovered from the Titanic. For dates and times, see theexhibit's website.

Southamptons Titanic Story (UK)

The SeaCity Museum in Southampton, UK, will open anew Titanic exhibiton April 10,commemoratingthe day that the Titanic set sail from its harbor 100 years ago. The exhibit will allow visitors to explore a 1:25 scale model of the ship, experience the Disaster Room, and learn about the thousands of people that departed from the city aboard the Titanic.

Memorial Cruise (UK)

Thiscruisewill depart Southampton, UK, on April 8 and sail across the Atlantic on the exact path the Titanic took on its fateful journey. Passengers will cruise over the wreck site and hold a memorial on April 15at 2:20a.m. when the ship sunk 100 years ago.

Anniversary Cruise (New York, U.S.A.)

Thiscruisedeparts on April 10 and follows the route the Titanic would have taken, in reverse, leaving from New York. Passengers will stop in Halifax before cruising on to the Titanic site on April 14^th for a memorial ceremony, and then sail back to New York.
