Most Heathrow flights resume
Most flights at Britain's Heathrow airport were operating as normal Thursday after wintry weather caused days of disruption to services.
The airport said it expected only a few cancellations or delays. On Wednesday, it finally re-opened both runways for the first time since Saturday.
Thousands of stranded travellers had slept on terminal floors over the last few days as they waited for news of their flights.
Motoring organizations said millions of drivers would make Christmas holiday journeys over the next two days, likely snarling roads across the country.
Train operators said they were likely to reduce services in Britain by about 25 per cent as a result of the cold conditions.
