O.J. Simpson released on $125,000 bail

O.J. Simpson was released from jail Wednesday on $125,000 US bail after being arraigned on 10 felonies, including kidnapping, said his lawyer.

Simpson had been in custody since Sunday, facing charges including kidnapping and robbery with use of a deadly weapon, in connection with an alleged attack on sports memorabilia collectors at a Las Vegas hotel.

Clad in a navy prison jumpsuit and with cuffed arms and feet, Simpson told the judge he understood the charges against him.

Simpson's bail agreement requires him to surrender his passport and not contact anywitnesses or co-defendants.

Heis allowed to travel within the continental U.S. and was ordered to return to court for a status check on Oct. 22.

After the hearing, Simpson's attorney, Yale Galanter, said that his client is relieved and that it's been a "very harrowing experience for him."

The former football star was arrested in connection toan armed robbery in a Las Vegas hotel.

Police allege as many as seven people were involvedin stealingfootball memorabilia from a room at the Palace Station casino-hotel.

Simpson has claimed the memorabilia belongs to him.

He was arrested on Sunday on suspicion ofassault and robberywith a deadly weapon.

If convicted, he could face life in prison.
