Two brothers from the U.S. have gone to the Philippines in search of their parents in the aftermath of Typhoon Haiyan, bracing for the worst but maintaining hope for a positive outcome.

Lino and Cesar Laure say they heard rumours of sightings of their parents, but no one has confirmed they are alive.

The brothers say they have to keep an open mind, but the images of the devastation, which has left almost two million people homeless, has made them circumspect.

They are especially worried about their mother, who was in hospice care at the house the parents had built there and was unable to move.

The CBCs Andrew Lee follows the brothers on their journey of hope in Tacloban.
