The U.S. Supreme Court made a historic ruling on Friday, granting same-sex couplesthe right to legally marry in any state.

The highest court in the countryruled state bans on gay marriage are unconstitutional. Justices sided 5-4 in favour of the landmark motion.

Same-sex marriage was already legal in 37 states along with the District of Columbia. Friday's ruling means all states must recognize same-sex marriages regardless of laws banning the practice.
