Prince William described his newborn son Georgeheir to the British throneas a "little bit of a rascal" during an interview with CNN.

The Duke of Cambridgesaid Prince George Alexander Louis and his wife Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, are both doing well, adding that she is doing a "fantastic job."

"Hes a little bit of a rascal, lets put it that way,"William said inhis first official interview since his son's birth on July 22. "He either reminds me of my brother or me when I was younger, Im not sure. But hes doing very well at the moment."

The interview will be aired in full Sept. 15 at 10p.m. ET.

William said he and Catherine were excited and happy to show off George to the throngs of media camped outside the London hospital where the third in line to the British throne was born.

"Really we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him," he said. "As any new parent knows, youre only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything."

Changing diaper 'a badge of honour'

William also described being a little uneasy as he puthis newborn son into the car for the first time, admitting that he had practised beforehandto ensure he could pull it off in front of the cameras.

"Where I can be I am as independent as I want to be, same as Catherine and Harry," he said. "We've all grown up differently to other generations and I very much feel if I can do it myself, I want to do it myself."

The desire to be independent was also his motivation for getting behind the wheel as they drove away from the hospital.

"I think driving your son and your wife away from hospital was really important to me," he said. "And I dont like fuss, so its much easier to do it yourself."

Prince William said he made sure to be the first to change George's diaper, something he called a "badge of honour."

He said he hopes to pass on his love of protecting endangered animals in Africa to his son, but for now would be content if the little prince would sleep a little more, explaining that he and Catherine have been a little tired lately.

"As a few fathers might know, Im actually quite looking forward to going back to work," he said with a laugh, referring to his job as a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot in Wales.
