Stunning scenes of typhoon damage in Tacloban, Philippines

CBC reporter Andrew Lee shot footage out the windows of a van as the CBC News crew arrived in Tacloban, one of the Philippine cities hit hardest by Typhoon Haiyan.

Although many of the streets have been cleared for traffic, the devastation he witnessed was universal: very few buildings remain useful, and no buildings are undamaged. Survivors are homeless. People quite literally have nowhere to go other than emergency relief shelters stocked with whatever aid is getting through.

And in a stunning display of the human cost, human remains lie in body bags lined up at the curb awaiting pickup by crews headed to mass burial sites.
