Adele's tales of heartbreak top charts

Move over Fab Four, there's a lady coming through. And instead of stories about falling in love and holding hands, she's got tales of heartbreak.

British singer Adele has become the first living artist since the Beatles to have two albums and two singles in the top five of the U.K. charts simultaneously. It's a record that has stood since 1964, and to put that in a Canadian perspective, that's only three years longer than the Toronto Maple Leafs have gone without a Stanley Cup. So yeah, it's a big one.

Adele's first album 19 jumped into the fourth spot this week, while 21, which is out in North America today, is in first place for the fourth week in a row.

Both singles charting, Rolling in the Deep and Someone Like You, are from the singer's second album, but the latter got a huge boost when Adele performed it at the Brit Awards last week.

Her glitter-filled ode to love lost caught a few lonely hearts post-Valentine's Day, because it sprang a whopping 46 places up the chart into the No. 1 spot. Beatles albums that pleased record-buyers in 1964 were With the Beatles and Please Please Me, and the singles I Want To Hold Your Hand and She Loves You.

Incidentally, Adele is 22, making her around the same age as the Beatles when they topped the charts: the band ranged in age from 21 (George) to 24 (John and Ringo).
