Lady Gaga has parted ways with her Canadian creative director Laurieanne Gibson after a bitter fight.

Gibson, 42, apparently riled the singer -- who has been under her wing since early in her career -- with comments comparing Gaga to Madonna. Gaga seems to be sensitive to comparisons with Madge, despite having already attracted millions of her own followers all over the world.

Gibson took credit for creating Lady Gaga's style in the L.A. Times, admitting she modeled the singer after Madonna.

"Listen, [Madonna] should be bitter because I [made Lady Gaga in her image] on purpose and you can quote me. I did it on purpose because for all those kids who believe that you can't, I wanted to let them feel that you can," she told the Times.

The partnership goes back to 2007, when Gaga was a new signee at Interscope Records. Gibson helped shape the singer's performance persona through tracks like Just Dance, Poker Face and Bad Romance, as well as her Monster Ball tour. Gaga freely admits she was never much of a dancer, so the influence of Gibson -- who has choreographed for Sean (Diddy) Combs, Mary J. Blige, Alicia Keys and Katy Perry -- helped her craft her intense live shows.Gibson also shepherded 10 of Gaga's music videos to completion, including Bad Romance.

But as Gaga's star rose and Gibson's along with it, there have been reports of ego clashes between them. Gibson, who began as a dancer, is now also involved with solo projects, such as the BET competition show Born to Dance and E!'s reality show The Dance Scene.

Gibson reportedly criticized the sexualized religious imagery of Gaga's Judas video and questioned the development of The Edge of Glory video. Her comments earned the wrath of Gaga's millions of Little Monsters and sparked a Twitter war, which forced her to abandon her Twitter feed and move to a new account after getting a stream of abuse.

Gaga, meanwhile, has turning to Richard Jackson, her second in command, for creative guidance, she confirmed in a tweet.
