A garage-sale bargain may have proved to be the deal of a lifetime for one lucky California man. Ten years ago, Rick Norsigian paid $45 for a box of glass-plate negatives at a yard sale in Fresno. It's now believed those negatives are the work of Ansel Adams, the celebrated photographer whose early works were believed to have burned in a studio fire in 1937.
Some collectors are appraising the find at $200 million US, calling the negatives the missing link between Adams' early and late work.
Whether they are confirmed or not, Norsigian joins a rare group of bargain hunters whose tenacity pays off with extraordinary finds.
