A Canada-wide poll on private fitness facilities indicates 39 per cent of people who have belonged to a gym said they were overcharged.
The poll, conducted online by Ipsos-Reid on behalf of the CBC-TV program Marketplace, included a total of 2,004 adults, of whom 738 were current or former gym members.
In a separate survey, Marketplace asked Canadians for their own gym horror stories, and heard from hundreds of former members who said they continued to be charged, even after cancelling their memberships.
One of them was Toronto resident Norm Jezioranski, who said his gym continued to bill him for three years after he cancelled in writing.
We are curious: Has your gym overcharged you? Take our survey and let us know.
