Radiant northern lights over Alberta
Another solar storm has brought the aurora borealis, a.k.a. the northern lights, to southern Canada and elsewhere.
In recent days, the sun has released three powerful eruptions, one of which has given us the latest dazzling display of the northern lights.
Photographers with Reuters, The Canadian Press and Radio-Canada were out Monday night in Alberta chasing the dancing lights, and here are some of the stunning stills they made.
In Herronton, Alta., the aurora borealis lights up the sky over an old grain elevator.
The dazzling display of green and pinkish-purple hues also illuminated an old farm yard near Herronton, which is about 100 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
The northern lights make an appearance over homes near Cremona, Alta., about 80 kilometres northwest of Calgary.
In Edmonton, the northern lights are pictured over the city's Rossdale neighbourhood.
The northern lights are aglow over an old grain elevator in Brant, Alta., about 100 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
And they light up the sky over Blackie, Alta., about 80 kilometres southeast of Calgary.
