There were a ton of records broken, earliest dates set and just crazy interesting stats from yesterday's heat across NL. Many of these stats were dug up by Rodney Barney from the Gander Weather Office, (@rcbstormpost on Twitter) who was a stat machine yesterday, so a big shout out to him. But in case you missed any...  here's a little recap for you.

St. John's
-YYT hit 26.4, breaking the old YYT record of 23.1 set back in 2009 AND the old St. John's station site record of 26.1, set back in 1883! (Records began in 1874)
-26.4 was also warm enough to brake the all time May record of 25.6 for YYT, which was set back on May 30th 1972.
-We only had 1 day all of last Summer (August 26th at 26.6) which was barely warmer than yesterday

Gander
-YQX hit 31.0, breaking the old May 22nd record of 22.3 set back in 1979. (Records began in 1937)
-31.0 also broke the all time May record of 28.3 set back on May 30th 1972.
-Yesterday was also the earliest date on record that Gander has hit 30. Previous date was June 5th 1967.

Badger
-The warmest temp in the Province yesterday at 31.8. That broke the old May 22nd record of 22.9 set back in 2000. (Records began 1973)

Also noteworthy: Last Summer the warmest temperature recorded in Gander was 27.3 and in Badger was 29.4... so yesterday for you folks was warmer than ANY day last Summer!!! A telling sign of just how bad the Summer of 2011 was.

-YDF hit 26.4, squeaking by the old record of 26.2 set back in 1989. (Records began in 1933)

Corner Brook
-25.2 yesterday, making it the warmest May 22nd on record. That broke the old record of 23.5 set back in 1998. (Records began in 1933)

Cartwright
-The second warmest temp in the Province yesterday, at 31.3 Shattering the old May 22nd record of 21.7 back in 1942. (Records began in 1937)
-31.3 was also the Highest temperature ever recorded in the month of May. Previous date was May 26th 1950 at 30.0

Happy Valley-Goose Bay
-30.1 yesterday was more than enough to break the old record of 25.0 set back in 1953. (Records began in 1941)
-It was the first time that HV-GB has hit 30 in May since 2001.

Cape Race
-17.5 yesterday, breaking the old record of 15.9 set back in 1996. (Records began in 1921)
