Making a snowman outside is always fun, but sometimes it's nice to make a long-lasting snowman in the warmth of indoors!

Here is a super-simple baking soda clay recipe that you can use to make little snow friends. To add an outdoor element, you can collect bits from nature to decorate the snowman.

You Will Need:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • wire (floral wire or pipe cleaners work too)
  • bits of nature (we had acorn caps on hand and we collected sumac berries, pine cones and sticks)

Baking soda clay, twigs, sumac berries and sticks.

Instructions:

1. Mix baking soda, cornstarch and warm water in a pot over medium heat and stir until it resembles play dough. Remove from heat.

While the mixture cools, head outside to collect things from nature to dress the snowman.

2. Knead the bright white dough until it is soft. Roll it into three different size balls for the body.

3. Cut a piece of wire, slide it through the balls and then fold down the wire at both ends to hold the snowman together.

4. Now you can add all the other pieces and watch the snowman come to life!

Enjoy the beauty of a snowman that will never melt.
