Beautiful Bubble Prints

With our outdoor canvas being continually white, we were ready to see and create with colour! Here is a wonderful craft where kids can learn about colour mixing and get to create with bubbly colour at the same time. I did this craft with a group of children at a birthday party and it was a huge hit. You can't go wrong when you combine bubbles and paint for kids to play with. You may even find that you can't resist joining in.

I must warn you that this gets messy but it's nothing an old plastic table cloth can't contain. The results aren't bad either!

Bubble printing results: beautiful impressions of colours in bubble-shaped clusters.

You will need:

  • water-based paint
  • dish soap
  • water
  • straws
  • paper
  • bowls

To create:

Begin by covering your table with an old plastic tablecloth or newspapers. Next, combine equal amounts dish soap and paint in a bowl. Do this with as many colours as you want to use. Add about half as much water as paint and blend well with a spoon until it is fully combined and frothy.

Now for the really fun part!

Give the kids a straw for each color you have created a bubble solution for and a piece of paper. Let them blow into the colorful, soapy mess with a straw until the bubbles are fairly high above the bowl.

I know... dream come true for kids!

A bowl overflowing with a big pile of blue bubbles, sitting in the sunlight.

Once the bubbles are at their peak, place the paper over top of the bowl. When the paper is lifted up, it's left with a bubble print. The excitement is a bit contagious. One bubble print will definitely lead to many more!

Keep going with as many colours as desired and watch as beautiful art comes to life.

Enjoy getting creative and playing with colour!
