Create Your Own Fairy Garden

By Shanti Nordholt-McPhee, Twig and Toadstool

Jun 10, 2014

We love creating our annual flower garden over here. This year we decided to repurpose an old clementine box and transform it into a fairy garden. Really simple with lovely results.

What You'll Need

  • clementine box
  • potting soil
  • newspaper
  • a backyard or forest to harvest from (or some small plants)
  • moss
  • glue
  • anything else your fairy heart desires (shells, toadstools, stones, a fairy...)

How It's Made

Line your clementine box with newspaper.

Add your potting soil.

Go on a backyard or forest hunt for some sweet fairy garden plants.

We found some lovely little wild violets.

Some sweet baby ferns.

Magical moss.

Miniature fairy flowers.

Take a trowel, dig up the plants you find (as well as some of the soil surrounding it) and transplant them into your clementine box of soil.

Arrange all your fairy treasures in amongst your little garden and if you wish, glue some dried moss onto the outside edges of the box.

Await the fairies!

Happy fairy gardening!
