DIY Bookaboo Fuse Bead Bookmark
By Megan McChesney
May 22, 2014
Help your favourite little bookworm keep their place with this simple fuse bead Bookaboo bookmark! Kids can develop colour recognition and counting skills as they help you lay out the beads, and if they're a little bit older, they can also develop their fine motor skills by putting the beads in place on the peg board.
You'll need:
- a piece of blue foam
- fuse beads (also called Perler beads or Hama beads)
- a peg board
- a piece of parchment paper
- an iron
- scissors
- glue gun or craft glue
- our Bookaboo template
Instructions:
1. Following our template, lay out your Bookaboo fuse bead pattern. You will need the following colours in the following amounts: white (57), red (17), brown (12), black (10), tan (7), pink (2).
2. Cover Bookaboo with a piece of parchment paper and iron using a dry iron. Refer to your fuse bead instructions for the correct iron settings. You'll want to iron Bookaboo until the beads have melted slightly and fused together. Allow to cool and then repeat the same process on the other side (don't forget the parchment paper!). Allow to cool.
3. Cut out a long, thin strip of foam (ours is about 1.25" wide). Snip a triangle out of the bottom.
4. Glue the foam onto your Bookaboo.
That's it! Happy crafting and happy reading!
