Easy No-Carve Pumpkin: Melted Crayons

By CBC Kids

Oct 13, 2017

Gather up old crayons, take off their wrappers, and you've got the makings of a really impressive pumpkin.

You'll Need:

• crayons, wrappers removed
• electrical tape
• hair dryer
• protective covering for your work surface

How To:

1. Protect your work surface. We used scrap cardboard (whatever you choose, make sure it's thick, so that the hot wax doesn't melt through it).
2. Tape crayons to the top of the pumpkin using electrical tape. As they start to melt, the crayons get pretty slippery, so you may need to secure them further by pushing pins into the tape.
3. Turn on the hair dryer to high heat, but low speed (otherwise, you'll end up with melted crayon spatter all over the place!). Hold the hair dryer just above the crayons. It doesn't take too long for the crayons to start to melt, and once they do, they go pretty quick. Watch closely and move the heat as needed.
4. Once the crayons are melted, move the dryer around to make the colours bleed into each other. When you're happy with the look, let dry. That's it!
