So, you're ready to make your own Daniel Tiger costume. Here is all you need to know.

What You'll Need

  • a red hooded sweater
  • an orange hat/balaclava
  • orange pants
  • brown & orange felt
  • cardboard
  • scissors
  • hot-glue gun

the things you'll need to make the daniel tiger costume

How It's Made

1. Making the ears

Draw the shape of your desired Daniel Tiger ears on the cardboard. Cut them out. Use them as a guide while tracing a slightly larger shaped ear on the orange felt. Cut out the orange felt. Use the hot glue to cover the cardboard ears in orange felt. Using the brown felt you can cut little stripes to glue to the ears.

Tip: Bend the ears at the bottom so you have a base where you can glue them to the hat/balaclava. Now that you have the ears done, glue them to the hat/balaclava. Add a few stripes to the top and sides of the hat.

2. Making the tail

Fold and glue your orange felt over several times until it is the desired thickness for your tail. Cut around the bottom to round-out the tail. Use your brown felt to cut little stripes, and hot-glue them to the tail. You can glue the tail to the sweater or use a safety pin.

3. Making the pants

Cut a few stripes out of the brown felt and glue them to the pants. If you want to re-use the pants, you could also use double-sided tape though it doesn't stick as well.

4. Accessorize

Grab some red shoes and a watch, and your little Daniel Tiger is now ready to go trick-or-treating (and will stay warm) this Halloween for under $25!
