Holiday Treats To Give: Snowman Soup

By Gina Bell, East Coast Mommy

On a cold winter day, is there anything better than a steaming hot mug of hot chocolate? It’s one of my boys’ favorite treats, especially when we've had family over.

On a recent day off from school, my boys made bags of “snowman soup” (which is actually hot chocolate with some extra treats and a candy cane for stirring).

Aren’t they cute? I found snowman-shaped marshmallows, but regular mini marshmallows work too.

All you have to do is fill a clear bag with all the necessary ingredients, and tie it up with a homemade tag. My boys made simple tags using blue cardstock, white paint and markers.

What You'll Need

  • pouches of hot chocolate
  • candy canes
  • chocolate kisses or chocolate chips
  • marshmallows
  • clear bags
  • card stock
  • ribbon or string
  • markers or paint

How It's Made

Once all the yummy goodies are assembled in their clear giftbags, little ones can move on to making the gift tags. Here's how my boys made theirs:

1. Cut a tag from a piece of card stock, and punch a hole in the top.
2. Use a marker to write “Snowman Soup” at the top of the tag.
3. Dip a toilet roll in white paint to create the top and bottom of the snowman.

Allow to completely dry.

4. Use markers to add details to the snowman.

Isn’t it a sweet little craft and treat? They're great gifts for kids to give to friends and family for the holidays, and add a special touch to any mug of hot chocolate.

Happy Holidays!
