I don't think the slime craze is leaving our house any time soon. So as much as I don't enjoy making slime, my kids still love the stuff. I know I'm not alone — your kids probably love slime just as much as mine do!
Now, when I make slime, I try to mix it up and make it a bit different every single time. I may switch up the colour or add a scent. Or I may make themed slime depending on the season.

Since Christmas is quickly approaching, it made sense to make some jingle bell slime for the kids.
This slime uses adorable little bells in red, green and gold to add variety to the texture, as well as some auditory sensory input. When you first mix the bells in, you can hear their tiny little jingle. You can also hear the bells when the slime slowly oozes down and hits the bowl or table beneath your hands.
Plus, it looks pretty and festive.
Here's What You'll Need:
To make this jingle bell slime, you'll need a few items found around your home, like baking soda and contact solution, paired with some items from the dollar store.
- bottle of clear glue
- 1/4 tsp of baking soda
- contact solution — I use Opti-Free Replenish No Rub since it's what we have on hand
- mini jingle bells — I found these at the dollar store
- Optional: essential oil for scent
- Optional: liquid watercolours or food colouring for colour
The slime pictured here is the first time that I experimented with the bottles of clear glue found at the dollar store (it's available in a few colours, too!).
How to Make Jingle Bell Slime
Empty the bottle of clear glue into a bowl. Add the baking soda and mix well. You can add colour and scent at this point, if you are interested.
Then add a generous amount of contact solution and stir the glue mixture. Keep adding contact solution bit by bit until the mixture starts to stick to itself and form a ball. At this point, I keep adding even more contact solution because otherwise, I find the slime still too sticky to play with. Seriously, be generous with it!
When the mixture doesn't feel as sticky to the touch, pick it up and start kneading it. If you find it's still sticking to your hands a lot, then go back and add more contact solution.
Once you are happy with the consistency and feel of the slime, add your itty bitty jingle bells by gently folding them into the slime.
Then it's ready to play with.
You can store this slime in an airtight container for quite a few weeks, making it a great sensory activity that can be enjoyed again and again over the break.
