Jingle Bell Threading Fine Motor Activity

When it comes to fine motor activities for my kids, the simpler the better. Well, this jingle bell threading activity is so simple. It requires no prep, making it a quick and easy activity for toddlers and preschoolers. And the added auditory component of the jingling bells is a nice bonus too!

For this jingle bell threading activity, you'll need:

  • bamboo skewer
  • styrofoam
  • large jingle bells

Simply press the pointy end of the skewer into the styrofoam and you're ready to go! My three year old loved doing this step.

On the back of each jingle bell, there is a slot for threading, usually ribbon or string, but the skewer fits just perfectly. Simply slide the jingle bells on the skewer and listen to the bells jingle as they slide down.

We only had five jingle bells on hand, but it would be so cool to fill the entire skewer with bells! You could certainly fit one giant stack of bells on that skewer!

To remove the bells, my three year old enjoyed tipping the entire threading station upside down so that the bells would slide off and crash onto the table. Or he would just pull the skewer out of the styrofoam, letting all the bells slide off. Clearly, he took the noisiest and quickest routes possible...
