Nature Bugs

There is so much beauty in the world around us—sometimes, we just need a reminder to take time and enjoy it! 

This craft is fun for kids because they get to go on a nature “treasure hunt” to find some beautiful little bits of life. They can use the things they find to create bugs and creatures using their imaginations. 

The possibilities are endless and this is a outdoor activity your kiddos will want to do again and again.

You Will Need:

Nature! Go on a nature hike and grab samples of anything and everything you find!  The kids love this part.

Instructions:

Lay out your found treasures and let your imagination run wild. 

Flower petals and maple keys become wings, stems and pine cones become bodies and pine needles become legs.  Anything goes.

Here are some fun examples that we made:

The body is a leaf with weeping peashrub legs. The head is made from a maple key and we added leaf stem antennae.

The body is a boxwood leaf stem with helicopter wings, plus a clover head and pine needle antennae.

The body is a pine cone with green leaf wings and wheat antennae.
