It's March! And that means, depending on where you are in Canada, midseason is either upon you or quickly sneaking up. The old Christmas lights have gone from snowy scenes to muddy ones, but the kids still appreciate seeing them lit up. So we thought — why not a scavenger hunt that celebrates the days of winter trying to decide where it's going?

Grab a toque, if you still need it, and make sure your boots can handle the sometimes-damp/sometimes-frozen ground for this scavenger hunt that's all about the Canadian sights of an ending winter.

What You'll Need:

  • printable midseason scavenger hunt (PDF)
  • marker, pencil, crayons or dry erase marker
  • plastic page protector or laminator (optional)
  • clipboard (optional)

How It's Played:

1. Print out the scavenger hunt.

All-Canadian Midseason Scavenger Hunt: Timmies cup, knit mittens, melting snow, ice in street cracks, hockey sticks, cat in window, migrating birds, street art, red toque, dog on a walk, old Christmas lights, squirrel in a tree

2. If you want to reuse the scavenger hunt, you can slide it into a plastic page protector or laminate it, and use a dry erase marker to mark items as you find them.

3. You can also put the list on a clipboard and tie the marker or pencil to the clipboard. This makes the activity easier for kids (and parents — no more lost markers!).
