Valentines Day Gross Motor Boredom Buster

By Dyan Robson, And Next Comes L

When my kids are bored, we usually pull out one of the following materials: scissors and scrap paper, balloons or tape.

Each of these materials can entertain my kids for long periods of time, especially if I need something low prep.

My four-year-old really loves to play with tape (he's loved tape since he was a toddler). He loves to peel it, cut it, stick it and create with it.

So together, we peeled tape, cut tape and stuck tape to the floor to create this Valentine's Day gross motor balance game.

You Will Need:

All you need is some tape to enjoy this Valentine's Day gross motor boredom buster!

Masking tape, painters tape or washi tape all make great choices for this game.

Instructions:

Simply make a heart on the floor with pieces of tape. You'll want to make the heart quite large, especially if more than one child will play at a time.

Then simply encourage your kids to walk along the tape, placing one foot in front of the other. It's a great way to work on balancing.

The really fun part of this game is peeling the tape off the floor when the game is over. Peeling tape is a great way to work on fine motor skills. I'm pretty sure this fine motor exercise was my four-year-old's favorite part of the entire game! But my favorite part is that he's helping me clean up!
