Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Charlie Puth and more react to death of Avicii

Swedish producer, DJ and remixer Tim Bergling, aka Avicii, has died at the age of 28. His publicist confirmed that his body was found in Oman.

Aviciiwas known as the one of the most prominent contemporary EDMmusicians in the world, one who could sell out worldwide arena tours off the strength of his many hits, including the Grammy-nominated Levels.

Just two years ago, Avicii shocked his fans by announcing that he would be retiring from live touring in a letter posted to his website.

"Two weeks ago, I took the time to drive across the U.S. with my friends and team, to just look and see and think about things in a new way," he wrote. "It really helped me realize that I needed to make the change that I'd been struggling with for a while."

In August of that year, he performed his final live performance in Ibiza, Spain, later telling Billboard that it was "something I had to do for my health.The scene was not for me."

He released new music in 2017, including a collaboration with Rita Ora titledLonely Together,as well as a documentary,Avicii: True Stories.

Following his death, fellow musicians took to Twitter to mark the many ways the young musician influenced them.

"I would have enjoyed nothing more than ripping into Avicii well into and beyond our 60s," wrote Canadian producerDeadmau5, who in the past hadtraded barbs with the Swedish producer on social media.
