CBC'S COVERAGE OF 2010 FIFA WORLD CUP SEMI-FINALS

882,000 tune-in to Spain/Germany on TV; game draws more than 350,000 live streams

As the final weekend of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa draws near, Canadians continue to be glued to CBC's coverage! On Wednesday, Spain's victory over Germany attracted an average audience of 882,000 (A25-54) to CBC Television and a remarkable 353,957 total live streaming views online, the highest of the tournament to date. Peak concurrent streams to the game were 159,000, larger than the highest reported concurrent stream to 2010 Olympic Games. Earlier in the week, the opening Semi-Final game between Uruguay and the Netherlands attracted an average audience of 750,000 (A25-54) viewers to CBC Television, while online the game had an impressive 268,423 total live streams. To date, games on CBCSports.ca/fifaworldcup have attracted more than 7.5 million total live streams.
