CYRA BELBIN CROWNED CHAMPION IN FINALE OF CBC'S RECIPE TO RICHES

Halifax resident and her Mexi Mac n Cheese Bites won over Canadian voters and she takes home $250,000

RECIPE TO RICHES aired its season finale this evening, with each of the five category winners facing off to learn whose signature recipe earned the most votes from Canadians. The five finalists were Jesse Meredith of Port Coquitlam, B.C. and his Milk Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake Bites; Winslow Taylor of Brampton, Ontario and his Jammin' Jamaican Lobster Bisque; Alcide Desveaux of Welland, Ontario and his Grandpa's Acadian Meat Pie; Elisa Hendricks of Gibsons, B.C. and her Italian Lollipops; and Cyra Belbin of Halifax, Nova Scotia and her Mexi Mac 'n' Cheese Bites

Canadians watched, tasted and voted for their favourite, with Cyra Belbin and her Mexi Mac 'n' Cheese Bites walking away with the most votes and the $250,000 Grand Prize. From figure skating to running to ultimate frisbee, Cyra has the appetite, drive and focus to dominate any competition - including Recipe to Riches. Her playful take on traditional macaroni and cheese is deliciously crisp yet gooey, with a lightly spicy finish.  In second place was Alcide Desveaux with his Grandpa's Acadian Meat Pie.  A tasty savoury pie made with moist and tender shredded pork and seasoned chicken, along with a touch of onion, all in a tender crust.

To get to the finale, each competitor had to impress the esteemed panel of judges, featuring marketing guru Arlene Dickinson, chef and entrepreneur Vikram Vij and food expert Gail Simmons. But the ultimate winner of RECIPE TO RICHES was decided by Canadians!

After winning their respective weekly categories, the five finalists were each awarded $25,000 and their triumphant recipes were created as President's Choice products available for purchase at select Loblaw banner stores across the country. Week after week, the newest RECIPE TO RICHES products sold out across the country with Canadians clamouring to taste for themselves and vote for their favourite recipe.

RECIPE TO RICHES is hosted by actor and food-lover Carlo Rota. RECIPE TO RICHES was created and produced by Temple Street Productions.
