Astros Field renamed Minute Maid Park

The Houston Astros have landed a juicy new corporate sponsor for the club's baseball field.

On Monday, the team announced it had reached a deal with The Minute Maid Company and that Astros Field will be renamed Minute Maid Park.

The Houston stadium opened in 2000 as Enron Field but team owner Drayton McLane bought out the 30-year, $100 million US naming rights deal from the disgraced energy company in February.

In February, the Astros and Enron reached agreement on terms of a settlement regarding the naming rights contract between the parties. Enron went bankrupt in December.

Under the terms of the settlement, the Astros agreed to pay Enron's debtors the sum of $2.1 million US.

The Astros regained the right to immediately negotiate a naming rights agreement with a new partner and cease referring to the ballpark as Enron Field.
