NBA free agency: Raptors add DeMarre Carroll

DeMarre Carroll is leaving the Atlanta Hawks to join the Toronto Raptors.

Carroll tweeted a picture of himself with Raptors GM Masai Ujiri and coach Dwane Casey on Wednesday and announced that he is headed to Toronto. A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that it's a four-year deal worth $60 million US. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the details have not been announced. NBA rules prevent the deal from being signed until July 9.

After bouncing around the league for his first four years, Carroll blossomed last season with the Hawks. He averaged 12.6 points, shot 39.5 percent from 3-point range and played superb defense to help the Hawks to the best record in the Eastern Conference.

Raptors lose Johnson to Celtics

A person with knowledge of the details says the Boston Celtics have landed Amir Johnson with a two-year deal worth $24 million.

The veteran power forward agreed to leave Toronto and stay within the Atlantic Division on Wednesday.

Johnson averaged 9.3 points and 6.1 rebounds for the Atlantic champions last season, his sixth in Toronto. The 6-foot-9 Johnson began his career in Detroit, where he was a second-round pick in 2005.

Love to remain with Cavaliers

Kevin Love is staying in Cleveland and it's going to be for the long term.

Love issued a statement through The Players Tribune on Wednesday announcing that he would be returning to Cleveland next season. A person with knowledge of the agreement tells The Associated Press that Love will get a five-year max contract worth more than $110 million.

Love came to Cleveland from Minnesota last summer in a trade that sent Andrew Wiggins to the Timberwolves. Love injured his shoulder in the first round of the playoffs and missed the rest of the Cavaliers' run to the NBA Finals.

Hawks reach agreement withMilsap

Paul Millsap became an All-Star in his first two years with Atlanta and helped lead the Hawks to their first Eastern Conference finals.

He's back for at least two more years on a new contract which doubles his annual pay.

The Hawks have reached an agreement to re-sign Millsap, a person with knowledge of the deal told The Associated Press on Wednesday. The person requested anonymity because the deal can't be finalized until July 9.

The person said the agreement is a two-year deal with a player option for a third year that makes the contract worth $58.9 million.

Pierce reuniting with Clippers' Rivers

Paul Pierce and Doc Rivers are reuniting.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations tells The Associated Press that Pierce has agreed to a three-year, $10 million deal to join the Los Angeles Clippers. The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because no contracts can be finalized until July 9 per NBA rules.

Bucks land Monroe

The Milwaukee Bucks have landed their big man.

A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that that free agent centre Greg Monroe has chosen the Milwaukee Bucks over other big-market suitors like the New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.

Yahoo Sports first reported the deal, which is for three years and $50 million. Monroe has a player option on the final year of the deal that will allow the 25-year-old to become a free agent again in two years if he chooses.

Asikreturns to Pelicans front court

A person familiar with the negotiations says the New Orleans Pelicans and center Omer Asik have agreed on a five-year contract worth a minimum of $44 million and rising up to $58 million if incentives and benchmarks are met.

The team will have the option of voiding the final year of the deal.

The 7-foot Asik, who turns 29 on Saturday, started 76 games and averaged 7.3 points and 9.8 rebounds this season, his first with New Orleans following a trade from Houston.

Suns nab Chandler, Knight

The Phoenix Suns have reached an agreement with forward Tyson Chandler on a three-year, $52 million contract and agreed with Brandon Knight on a five-year, $70 million extension, people with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Chandler averaged 10.3 points and 11.5 rebounds while providing a defensive and locker room presence for the Dallas Mavericks last season. The 15-year veteran has averaged 8.8 points and 9.3 rebounds in a career that included stops in Chicago, New Orleans, New York and two one-year stints with the Mavericks.

Butler agrees to deal with Bulls

A person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press that All-Star guard Jimmy Butler and the Chicago Bulls have agreed to a five-year contract that could be worth about $90 million.

The total value of the contract could wind up being a little higher depending on where the salary cap number is set.

Butler also holds an option for the fifth year.

Heat keep Dragic

A person with knowledge of the negotiations says Goran Dragic has agreed to a five-year contract worth about $90 million with the Miami Heat.

The person says the deal includes a player option for Dragic to return to free agency a year earlier if he so chooses.

Dunleavy stays with Bulls

A person with knowledge of the negotiations says Mike Dunleavy and the Chicago Bulls have agreed on a new three-year, $14 million contract.

The person confirmed the deal Wednesday to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Bucks re-sign Middleton

A person with direct knowledge of the negotiations tells The Associated Press that the Milwaukee Bucks have reached agreement with restricted free agent Khris Middleton on a five-year, $70 million contract.

The Bucks and Middleton came to agreement early Wednesday, a few hours after the free agent market opened.

Spurs hold on to Green

Danny Green isn't going anywhere.

A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Green has agreed to terms with the San Antonio Spurs on a four-year contract worth $45 million. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal has not been officially announced.

Davis, Leonard agree to max deals

NBA free agency opened Wednesday with Anthony Davis and Kawhi Leonard agreeing to max contract extensions to stay where they are.

Players can agree to deals at any time but can't sign until July 9, after a moratorium period while next season's salary cap that's expected to be around $68 millionis set. That's when Davis will know the exact value of the more than $140-million extension with the New Orleans Pelicans he agreed to, which was confirmed to AP by a person with knowledge of the details. Davis tweeted: "NOLA, I am here to stay! Just getting started."

Leonard agreed to the parameters of a five-year deal that could be worth $90 million with the San Antonio Spurs, a person with knowledge of the deal confirmed to AP. The deal is the latest sign that Leonard is poised to become the new face of the franchise, inheriting that designation from Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker.
