GM explains direction of team for upcoming season

The Edmonton Oilers' birth certificates don't matter.

At least that's the point of view taken by general manager Craig MacTavish and new head coach Dallas Eakins. MacTavish explained to Hockey Night in Canada's Scott Oake on Saturday night why he and his bench boss don't like labelling their squad as youthful, saying it is almost exclusionary to some of the players.

MacTavish also opened up and explained why he felt the club made a savvy move in re-signing Ryan Nugent-Hopkins to a long-term extension last week and what it means for the Oilers moving forward.
