Ingebrigtsen smashes 3,000m world record, Duplantis sets new pole vault record at Diamond League Silesia

Norwegian runner Jakob Ingebrigtsen and Swedish pole vaulter Armand Duplantis set new world records and Canada's Marco Arop ran to a meeting record on Sunday at a Diamond League event in Chorzow, Poland.

Ingebrigtsenwon the men's 3,000 metres event in a world-record time of seven minutes 17.55 seconds.

The time eclipses the previous mark of 7:20.67, set by Kenya's Daniel Komen in 1996.

Ingebrigtsen's previous personal best in the distance was 7:23.63.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran a time of 7:17.55 in the men's 3000 metres to smash the world record in Poland.

Duplantis, having already sealed a win in the men's pole vaultcompetition atSilesia Stadium with a height of six metres, leapt to a new world record of 6.26 metres.

The Louisiana-born 24-year-old who competes for his mother's native Sweden, added another centimetre to his world record.

It's the third time this year that he has set a world record. He did so in the recent Olympic Games in Paris, clearing 6.25 meters after clinching the gold medal.

After breaking the world record at the Paris Olympics, Armand Duplantis clears a height of 6.26m at Diamond League Silesia.

Duplantis, who is widely known as "Mondo," has now broken the world record 10 times in his career each time by one centimetre.

Canadian sets meet record in men's 800

Arop, of Edmonton, rushed out to the front of the men's 800m race and comfortably won the eventin a meet-record time of 1:41.86.

The 25-year-old reigning world champion held off the reigning Olympic champion, Kenya's Emmanuel Wanyonyi, who finished in 1:43.23 for a second-place result.

Marco Arop of Edmonton ran a time of 1:41.86 in Poland to cruise to victory in the men's 800 metres.

The two runners had just battled in an 800m race on Thursday at the Diamond League stop in Lausanne.Wanyonyicame out on top in Switzerland with a world-leading, and personal-best time of 1:41.11 at the non-official Diamond League event.
