Amber MacArthur to launch new TV show

by Saleem Khan, CBC News Online

Hardcore internet geeks and technophiles are no stranger to Amber MacArthur the host of a slew of technology broadcasts and podcasts that include shows on G4TechTV and her own pioneering video podcast CommandN. The affable P.E.I. native has even inspired fan sites and discussion forum groups like Facebook's Buy me a drink, I'll introduce you to Amber Mac, I hear she's single.

Her new biweekly show, Webnation, hits the airwaves tonight.

The show, which aims to explore and explain the weird and wild world of the interweb, debuts at 11:35 p.m. tonight on Chum Ltd.'s CP24 channel and will be posted to the Citynews website afterwards.

Here's the official description:

Webnation covers the digital worlds of current affairs, pop culture and technology demonstrating how influential the world of "Cyberspace" really is as it continuously connects us to more people and more of the things we love. Whether it's a battlefield blogger reporting from Iraq, a small-time band making it big on MySpace or a video podcaster signing a Hollywood movie deal, Webnation shows you how Cyberspace affects us and more importantly, how we affect Cyberspace.

From citizen journalism to viral videos, Amber will guide viewers through a sea of news and technology stories from the web world and reveal tricks to using the Internet to our advantage.

My only question is: Who decided to capitalize the word "cyberspace"? Even William Gibson, the guy who coined the term, didn't cap it, let alone use it three times in two sentences. Suddenly, I feel like I'm back in the 1990s. (And no, I can't introduce you to Amber Mac, irrespective of whether or not she's single.)
