Copyright bill details released

by Paul Jay, CBCNews.ca

The federal government finally introduced its copyright reform amendments in the House of Commons Thursday, and while the bill isn't yet online, the government released a series of >fact sheets outlining what the new changes will be. We're working hard to digest what it all means and will be updating our story in the CBCnews.ca Technology section as the day progresses and gauging reaction.

Update: The bill is here. Also, University of Ottawa professor Michael Geist, a frequent critic of the government's efforts at copyright reform, has posted his reaction. Be warned, though - in a measure of the level of interest in this issue - Geist's blog is slow because of heavy traffic.

I wonder if they're going to 'enforce' this law like the underage smoking law...

Heads will roll if this passes, it will start off with the general public's heads, followed by the politician's once the public has had enough of living in debt.

I think Sweden looks like a nice place to live, who's up for a trip?

Blogers write whatever they feel. No facts, proof or material reference. Too bad.
CEO's say whatever they feel. No facts, proof or references. Just words. Just to make shareholders happy. It's okay
it's the way it works. It's business.

What really works and what really is happening is GSM is going away and is migrating to CDMA and this has
been onging for the last 5 years. The company that allows this is Qualcomm. The pioneer of CDMA. 15 years ago
the GSM cartel said it couldn't be done that CDMA defied the laws of physics. Thats what they said. Reminds me so much
of CEO's....

Does it matter if the next evolution to GSM is called "mustard" or "tobacco". Does it matter if it's called tds-CDMA,
CDMA-1x, CDMA-evdo or w-CDMA which was once called UMTS or better yet 3GPP.

God all these acronymns... Thats what they are acronymns. Acronymns for CDMA. Code Division Multiple Access.
Without CDMA there is no evolution to digital (data) in the wireless world. Without CDMA you can only have voice.
No camera, no surfing the web, no pictures or videos, no email. Nothing. Nada. I bet you the CEO didn't have time to tell
you the complete story. Actually GSM had SMS. That was cool.
