Lawyer, former law professor (Northwestern), and lead investigator in the Direct Action Everywhere Open Rescue Network

Wayne is a lawyer, writer, and founding organizer for the grassroots animal rights network Direct Action Everywhere (DxE). Wayne leads the DxE Open Rescue Network, which has rescued dozens of animals from abusive situations and has garnered media attention in ABC's Nightline, the Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. Wayne, who studied behavioral science at the University of Chicago and MIT, previously served on the faculty at Northwestern School of Law, where he published research on animals with the Harvard scholar Cass Sunstein. Wayne has organized for social justice campaigns since 1999, including campaigns against capital punishment and for low-income youth. In his free time, he enjoys playing with his three dogs (Natalie, Lisa, and Oliver) and one cat (Joan).
