Alec Baldwin
The judge dismissed the case against Baldwin in July halfway through a trial based on the withholding of evidence by police and prosecutors from the defense.
While the director said the film's firearms coordinator held most of the blame, he argued actors still have to do their "due diligence" on set.
Joel Souza recalled the moment Alec Baldwin shot him and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on set, as well as the shock and chaos thatfollowed.
Baldwin's trial came to a sudden end last week when the judge dismissed the case based on police misconduct and withheld evidence.
WHAT'S HAPPENING
The shocking decision came just hours after Baldwin's defense accused prosecutors of burying evidence.
During opening statements, the prosecution said the actor flouted the "cardinal rules" of gun safety prior to filmmaker Halyna Hutchins' fatal shooting.
The trial is set to determine if Baldwin was partially responsible for the fatal 2021 on-set shooting of Halyna Hutchins.
A judge denied a request to dismiss the case on complaints that the gun in the fatal shooting was damaged by the FBI, one of the last hurdles facing prosecutors.
Baldwin is set to go on trial next month for charges stemming from the accidental death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have requested Hannah Gutierrez-Reed's testimony during the actor's trial on involuntary manslaughter.
