Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump are striving to reach voters with fewer than 70 days left until the 2024 election.

Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, her running mate in the White House race, made a slew of appearances in key states over the Labor Day weekend, including Harris first campaign event with President Joe Biden since she took his place atop the Democratic ticket.

Trump and his vice presidential running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio), have also hit the campaign trail hard and increased public appearances. A recent stop at Virginias Arlington National Cemetery caused controversy amid reports that Trumps staff clashed with a cemetery employee over his campaign taking photos. Trump Claims Zuckerberg Told Him 'Theres No Way' He Could Vote For A Democrat In 2024 Race

Trump claimed Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told him "there's no way" he could back the former president's Democratic opponent in November.

The GOP presidential nominee told New York Magazine the tech executive was one the people who reached out to him following his assassination attempt in July.

"Zuckerberg called up and said, 'Ive never supported a Republican before, but theres no way I can vote for a Democrat in this election,'" Trump said. "Hes a guy that, his parents, everybody was always Democrat. He said, I will never vote for the people running against you after watching what you did. "

Joe Biden was still the Democratic nominee when Trump was shot at an outdoor rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

A spokesperson for Meta denied the exchange.

"As Mark has said publicly, hes not endorsing anybody in this race and has not communicated to anybody how he intends to vote," they told New York Magazine.

Still, Zuckerberg has previously praised Trump's response to the shooting, telling Bloomberg it was one of the most badass things hes seen in his life.

Meanwhile, Trump accused the Meta CEO of orchestrating a plot against him in the 2020 election, warning that he could end up behind bars if he does anything illegal this time," according to an excerpt from the former president's new book obtained by Politico last month.

Trump Shares What It Would Take For Him To Accept Potential 2024 Election Defeat

In a new interview with New York Magazine released this morning, Trump suggested he would only accept a potential defeat in the upcoming presidential race if he was confident in the election result.

"Its a lot easier to concede than to say that you won and go and prove it when the system is against you," Trump said. "All Im asking for is an honest election."

Trump also downplayed the suggestion that bringing back his former adviser Corey Lewandowski signaled his disappointment with the current state of his campaign.

"I just like him. Coreys a character, he said. But Im very happy with everybody.

Chris Christie Shares Debate Advice For Kamala Harris

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R), who helped Trump prepare for debates in 2016 and 2020 before becoming a frequent critic, shared the two words he'd write on a notepad for Harris as she walked out to face Trump.

During his appearance on ABC's "This Week," Christie also predicted Harris would ultimately get more attention than the former president on the debate stage.

John Fetterman Suggests Democrats Shouldn't Underestimate Trump In The Debate

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) predicted Harris will perform well in the debate against Trump, but suggested Democrats shouldnt underestimate the former president.

Im proud to stand with Joe Biden, and Im absolutely proud to stand with Vice President Harris, Fetterman told CNNs State of the Union. Its going to be a straight-up debate. Shes going to do great of course, but Donald Trump will be good too. I mean we can all remember he wrecked all of the Republicans. Hes a good debater. But at the end of the day, I dont believe this debates going to be definitive because its going to come down to this choice, and its going to be close.

Fetterman added that voters in Pennsylvania, a key state in the race , will reject Trump and what he stands for.

"I don't think they want the kinds of dark days and chaos that Donald Trump provided for our nation," he said.

Harris Says She's Ready For Debate Against Trump

In response to a shouted question by reporters during a walk alongside her husband, Doug Emhoff, in Pittsburgh, Harris said she is prepared for Tuesday's face-off against Trump.

"I'm ready," Harris said , while giving a thumbs up.

Bernie Sanders Praises The Cheneys For Their Kamala Harris Endorsements

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) applauded ex-Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and former Vice President Dick Cheney for their endorsement of Harris.

New Poll Shows Trump Leading Harris By 1%

A new poll from The New York Times and Siena College that surveyed likely voters indicates the presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump is nearly evenly matched. While there is a margin of error of 3 percentage points, Trump is ahead of Harris in a 48% to 47% lead.

The figures are similar to the Times and Siena Colleges July poll, which followed President Joe Biden dropping out of the race and Harris announcing her presidential campaign.

In the seven battleground states Wisconsin, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, Georgia, North Carolina and Arizona Harris is slightly leading or tied with Trump, according to the latest poll.

Further, 28% of likely voters claimed to want to know more about Harris, while, by contrast, just 9% were seeking to know more about Trump, the survey found. As such, Tuesdays scheduled debate between both candidates presents a high-stakes opportunity for Harris to gain the support of additional voters, the Times noted.

Gold Star Father Khizr Khan Endorses Harris

Gold Star father and Muslim American Khizr Khan endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president during an interview with NBC News on Saturday.

Trump is undeserving of support [from] America because he is [a] divider. He creates hatred, Khan said. On the other hand, Kamala Harris, our vice president, is a person who unites the country, who is for equal dignity, who is for equal opportunity for [the] entire America. That is why I stand with Vice President Harris.

Khan continued by saying that democracy is at stake in this election, adding, "Trump has already announced his authoritarian playbook [and] publicly announced that this may be the last election of this country."

Khan was thrust into political stardom after giving an impactful speech alongside his wife at the 2016 Democratic National Convention about their son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in combat in Iraq in 2004, and about Trumps disrespect to Muslims and other minority groups. Khizr Khan has been a vocal Trump critic .

Harris And Walz Will Barnstorm Battleground States Following Tuesdays Debate

Following Tuesdays debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, along with their spouses, will visit and tour battleground states, including North Carolina, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Nevada, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, New Hampshire and Maine.

The Harris-Walz campaign hopes to highlight the differences between their ticket and Trump and Vance wanting to "take us backward with their dangerous and extreme Project 2025 agenda," according to a news release from Harris' campaign.

With fewer than 60 days until the election, Harris-Walzs campaign will include rallies, community events and canvass kickoffs.

This election is about two very different visions for our country, said Michael Tyler, Harris-Walz's campaign communications director. Donald Trump and JD Vance want to take us backward with their dangerous and extreme Project 2025 agenda. Vice President Harris and Governor Walz are fighting for a New Way Forward that protects our fundamental freedoms, strengthens our democracy, and ensures every person has the opportunity to not just get by, but to get ahead. With early voting about to begin and less than 60 days until Election Day, our campaign will take the vice presidents message directly to the voters wherever they are on the airwaves, on the doors, and online. With so much at stake in this election, we are blitzing the battlegrounds and leaving it all out on the field.

Trump Doubles Down On Bogus Gender-Affirming Care Claim His Own Campaign Can't Back Up

Donald Trump rolled out an bonkers, evidence-free claim about gender-affirming care for children during a campaign rally on Saturday.

Can you imagine youre a parent and your son leaves the house and you say, Jimmy, I love you so much, go have a good day at school and your son comes back with a brutal operation, Trump told the crowd in Mosinee, Wisconsin.

Can you even imagine this? What the hell is wrong with our country?

CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale took to social media to knock Trump over his lie, adding that the GOP nominees own campaign could not find a single example of this school secretly sends child for gender-affirming surgery without parental consent thing having ever happened anywhere in America.

George W. Bush Won't Endorse Anyone This Election: Report

Former President George W. Bush is again declining to endorse a candidate for president in this year's election cycle, NBC News reports .

Bush's office told NBC News on Saturday of his plans to remain private about his voting habits, saying, "President Bush retired from presidential politics years ago."

At Wisconsin Rally, Trump Says He'll Eliminate Education Department

Trump took the rally stage in Mosinee, Wisconsin, and proposed dramatic changes to the education system including getting rid of the Education Department entirely.

The former president said he would "eliminate the federal Department of Education," suggesting that it would give the power to regulate education fully back to the states.

Trump also described a bizarre scenario he believes parents should be worried about when their kids are in school, just days after a deadly school shooting took place at a high school in Georgia.

"Can you imagine you're a parent and your son leaves the house and you say, 'Jimmy, I love you so much. Go have a good day in school.' And your son comes back with a brutal operation," Trump told the crowd, falsely suggesting that school faculty or administration staff somehow perform gender-affirming surgery on students.

Trump made a similar claim a week ago, incorrectly claiming that "the school decides what's going to happen with your child" regarding such surgeries.

Fact-checks by Snopes , CNN and PolitiFact have concluded that this claim is false. There is no evidence that schools in the U.S. are performing, or sending students to receive, these types of surgeries. Gender-affirming surgery is very rarely performed on minors, and both surgeries and less invasive forms of gender-affirming care require parental consent under current medical standards.

Politico: Trumps Debate Preparations Are Minimal

Speaking to Politico , a Trump campaign official suggested that Trump is doing minimal preparations ahead of his debate with Harris on Tuesday.

The official, who spoke to the outlet on the condition of anonymity, noted that Trump has been doing unscripted interviews throughout his campaign, giving speeches that include a lot of material, extemporaneously.

The idea that he has to prepare for a debate is absurd, the campaign official said.

This Endangered Trump-State Democrat Is Betting On Abortion Rights

It was no accident that Sen. Jon Tester of Montana wound up on the campaign trail this week with the leader of Planned Parenthoods national political action committee.

The endangered Senate Democrat, whos running a tricky campaign that could determine whether Democrats keep control of the upper chamber, is leaning into abortion rights in a red state that most people do not associate with reproductive freedom or Democrats who can win statewide.

But Testers move is a sign of how abortion rights are at the center of the Democratic Partys plan to cling to its one-seat Senate majority in November.

Hillary Clinton's Advice To Kamala Harris: Trump 'Can Be Rattled,' 'Bait Him'

Trump's former presidential opponent Hillary Clinton offered Vice President Harris straight-forward advice on how to take on Donald Trump during their first presidential debate: Bait him.

Clinton, who lost the presidential election to Trump in 2016, said in an interview with the New York Times published Sunday that Trump "is going with a scorched-earth approach and will just try to tear her down, which is his usual go-to strategy."

To combat Trump's aggression, Clinton said Harris should go on the offensive instead, adding that it would hit Trump's weaknesses in leadership.

"She just should not be baited. She should bait him. He can be rattled," Clinton told the Times. "He doesnt know how to respond to substantive, direct attacks."

Clinton used her 2016 debate against Trump as an example of exposing this weakness, noting his reaction to her calling him a puppet for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

"I mean, when I said he was a Russian puppet and he just sputtered onstage," Clinton told the Times. "I think thats an example of how you get out a fact about him that really unnerves him."

During that infamous 2016 debate , Trump claimed that Putin had no respect for the former secretary of state, to which Clinton replied: "That's because he'd rather have a puppet as president of the United States."

As Clinton continued to describe Russian cyberattacks, Trump spoke over her, repeating, "No puppet, no puppet, you're the puppet."

Kamala Harris Faces Electoral College Problem

Kamala Harris faces a growing possibility that she could win the most votes in November but still lose the election because of the Electoral College, election forecaster Nate Silver writes in his latest newsletter . He projects that there is about a 20% chance that Democrats lose the presidency despite receiving the most votes for the third time since 2000.

Silver's model currently shows Trump with a 61.5% chance of winning the presidency.

Trump has gained ground on Harris in polling averages in key Rust Belt swing states Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, and Silver writes that Harris is losing ground to Trump in polling averages for six of seven battleground states.

Harris Campaign Celebrates Dick Cheney Endorsement

The Harris-Walz campaign applauded Republican former Vice President Dick Cheney for his endorsement.

The Vice President is proud to have the support of Vice President Cheney, and deeply respects his courage to put country over party," campaign chair Jen OMalley Dillon said in a statement.

Donald Trump Slams Dick Cheney As 'Irrelevant RINO'

It didn't take long for Trump to go after former Vice President Dick Cheney for endorsing Harris.

"Dick Cheney is an irrelevant RINO, along with his daughter, who lost by the largest margin in the History of Congressional Races!" Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday evening. "Hes the King of Endless, Nonsensical Wars, wasting Lives and Trillions of Dollars, just like Comrade Kamala Harris. I am the Peace President, and only I will stop World War III!"
Trump also took the opportunity to attack Liz Cheney for her role on the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. And he recycled a false claim that committee members "destroyed all evidence and information."
"Cheney and the others should be prosecuted for what they did, but Comrade Kamala is even worse!" he wrote.

"I think he is the Republican nominee," the former GOP presidential candidate replied. "And I think putting him against Kamala Harris, who is the Democrat nominee for me, it's not a question. Now, do I agree with his style, do I agree with his approach, do I agree with his communications? No."

Haley dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination in March. She endorsed him later that month, despite previously saying voting for him would be like suicide for our country .
